National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Professional Development session for Interpreters
A free PD session was organised by the Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI) in partnership with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Department of Communities, Ethnic Disability Advocacy Centre, Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators (AUSIT) WA and Western Australian Institute of Translators and Interpreters (WAITI) with WAITI’s Vice President Khin Myo Myint participating as a Presenter, on behalf of the Institute.
The session covered information about the NDIS; important terminology and sensitivities and challenges for interpreters and service users alike.
Webinar Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)
WAITI Vice-President Khin Myo Myint was a copresenter at the RACGP Webinar on 05 December 2018, topic: ‘Optimising Outcomes When Working with Interpreters’ organised for General Practitioners accessing TIS services for their patients. Diploma of Interpreting NMTAFE
North Metropolitan TAFE is planning to re-launch the Diploma of Interpreting (PSP50916) in July 2017 in a range of Languages other than English (LOTE).
Languages under consideration are: Arabic, Dinka, Greek, Hazaragi, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Oromo, Tigrinya and Vietnamese.
